It all started with a hill
In 1859, Burkhard Pfyffer bought a plot of land in Lucerne, directly adjacent to the parade ground of the Artillery Company of Our Lord. In the same year, the Lucerne City Council authorised him to run an inn there. As the years went by, what started out as a simple hostelry developed into Château Gütsch.
Thanks to its breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, the castle made a name for itself. And under this name, it made history before falling into a state of slumber for some years. But now the Sleeping Beauty has awakened, and the fairytale castle on the little hill above the city of Lucerne has started a new life.
