A series of exclusive culinary evenings awaits you from January. Three decorated chefs from excellent restaurants on the Amalfi Coast will be demonstrating their skills at Restaurant Lumières:

Stefano Mazzone - Grand Hotel Quisisana, Capri

He started his career at Gualtiero Marchesi and after only two months of experience he became chef de partie for starters. Mr. Marchesi taught him to think of the dish and the paper, to design it according to a certain style and then turn it into reality.Not a genius, but great determination, knowledge, a willingness to experiment and a bit of creativity, which, according to Mazzone, allows him to take the extra step to become an innovator in order to create something unique.

After working in Sicily, where he developed his own cuisine, he came to the Grand Hotel Quisisana in 2007 to embark on a new and challenging adventure, which he mastered with the ease of an old master.

The apparent simplicity hides the peaks of flavor and awakens memories of smells and tastes that everyone has, on a deep level, for their immediate pleasure.

Gennaro Russo - Le Sirenuse, Positano

Gennaro, who was only 29 years old at the time of his appointment as head chef at the famous La Sponda restaurant at Le Sirenuse on the Italian Amalfi Coast in spring 2016, comes from the town of Somma Vesuviana, east of Naples. In 2014 and 2015, he worked as deputy head chef at the hotel’s famous La Sponda restaurant in Positano under former head chef Matteo Temperini.

Prior to that, after working at the famous restaurant Don Alfonso 1890 in Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, Russo spent three years in Paris, where he honed his craft as chef de partie at two historic Michelin-starred establishments, Lasserre and L’Ambroisie. He then worked with Massimo Bottura at the Osteria Francescana in Modena. In November 2019, he was named one of six up-and-coming young talents at the La Liste Awards in Paris.

Gennaro’s light Mediterranean cuisine is based on fresh local ingredients and is inspired by the great culinary traditions of Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

Giuseppe Aversa - Il Buco, Sorrento

After many years and various experiences in different restaurants with different roles, Giuseppe Aversa decided in 1997 to open a unique restaurant in the cellar of an old monastery in the center of Sorrento. He returned to typical Mediterranean cuisine and created haute cuisine menus, retaining the flavors of the old recipes.

In 2004, he was awarded a Michelin star, which he still holds today. During these years he also collected many other awards in various gastronomic guides. In Alta Badia, Giuseppe took part in the Chef’s Cup with 26 other top chefs. He is in contact with the most famous Italian chefs, from Cannavaciuolo, Berton, Alfonso Iaccarino, Gennaro Esposito, Alfonso Caputo, Luciano Zazzeri and many others.

IL Buco has become a point of reference for the most demanding customers who want to experience good food at a high level, without giving up the traditions, flavors and aromas of the classic products of southern Italy.
